DNSSEC, DNS security extensions, enables an organization to authenticate the data that it publishes in DNS to assure users attempting to access its website, email servers and other IP applications that these destination addresses are genuine. Without DNSSEC, an imposter could provide DNS information to users in order to redirect these users to the imposter's website, which could be setup to appear like the intended site.
