Management Team

Collectively, the BT Diamond IP team has more than 100 years of IP networking expertise. Many members of our team have been with the company since it started as two separate entities, Quadritek Systems and VitalSoft, both renowned for their award-winning IP management software.*

Rick Tallman, Senior Vice President

Rick became the Senior Vice President of BT Diamond IP in November 2007. He previously served as the Vice President of Business Affairs and General Counsel of BT INS. In this position he was responsible for the company’s legal matters, as well as being a key leader in BT INS’ corporate development activities. Before joining BT INS in January of 2006, he served as Senior Vice President of Administration at Proxim Corporation. From 1998 until 2003, Rick served as Vice President and Assistant General Counsel, M&A at Nortel Networks. Rick has also served in various leadership positions in business development, alliances and law at Bay Networks, Computer Associates, The ASK Group and Ingres Corporation. Rick holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from San Diego State University and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California’s Hastings College of the Law.

Elvin Ambler, Vice President

Elvin is the Vice President of Business Development, in charge of developing and managing strategic alliances and partnerships. Previously, he served as the general manager of BT Diamond IP from 2003 to 2007. He also served as vice president of sales and marketing for INS (now BT INS) from 2002 to 2005. Prior to that, Elvin was vice president and general manager of the VitalSoft software division within Lucent Technologies. Elvin has held senior management positions at Unisys and Digital Equipment and serves on the boards of directors of a privately held company in the San Francisco Bay area. He is a graduate of Wichita State University with Bachelor degrees in Psychology and Journalism.

Michael Dooley, Vice President

Michael is responsible for providing oversight for the BT Diamond IP operation. Prior to joining the team, he was President and CEO of Diamond IP Technologies, a company that was acquired by INS. (now BT INS) Before Diamond IP Technologies was formed, Michael was Vice President of Operations for the VitalSoft line of software products at Lucent Technologies, and Vice President of Engineering at Quadritek Systems. Michael has more than 20 years of experience managing and developing large scale software products. He is a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia.

Al Hilton, Vice President

Al brings over a decade of sales management and business development experience to his position as Vice President of BT Diamond IP Sales. Al spent 4 years as the Director of Sales for the VitalSoft software division of Lucent Technologies, where he had responsibility for Sales, Technical Services and Business Operations. During Al's time with VitalSoft, he helped increase yearly revenues from $20 million to over $70 million and led the division to develop a market-leading performance and IP management suite of software servicing Telecommunication, Service Provider and Enterprise customers. Al has held various positions in sales and management at Computer Associates, both at the Regional and National levels. Al holds a Bachelor of Science from DeSales University in Center Valley, Pennsylvania.

Tim Rooney, Director of Product Management

Tim has worked with IP technologies in various capacities over the last 12 years, including systems engineering and development. He has an extensive background in IP, telecommunications, wireless services and software. Prior to joining BT Diamond IP, Tim worked at AT&T, Cingular, Triton PCS and Lucent, including a leadership role managing the VitalQIP software product to its peak as market leader. During his tenure at BT Diamond IP, Tim has managed the engineering development and market introduction of three next-generation IP management software systems: NetControl, IPControl and ImageControl. Tim holds a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Engineering Sciences from Drexel and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University.

Alex Drescher, Director of IP Product Planning

Alex has been working as an information technology professional since 1976. For the last 15 years, he has concentrated on networking. He has designed and built local and wide area data networks, supported telecommunication systems and integrated voice and data networks. During his tenure at BT Diamond IP, Alex has worked on the engineering development and market introduction of three next-generation IP management software systems: NetControl, IPControl and ImageControl. Alex attended Northeastern University.

* Both Quadritek and VitalSoft were acquired by Lucent Technologies, in 1998 and 1999 respectively. INS was formed from multiple divisions of Lucent technologies. Diamond IP Technologies was acquire by INS in 2003. BT acquired INS in March of 2007.
