Simplified Deployment

Pre-installed with de facto industry standard BIND DNS software, IPControl™ Sapphire DNS appliances simplify deployment of advanced DNS configurations. Managed through BT Diamond IP’s award-winning IPControl system, the Sapphire DNS appliance automates and centralizes control over all DNS configuration requirements through one intuitive web user interface for easier administration. This includes all BIND options, DNS controls and server statements, TSIG keys, logging and much more. All Sapphire DNS appliances support four network interface plus an additional fiber interface option. The fiber interface enables connection to 1000-Base-SX switches or routers for enhanced connectivity.

Easy Upgrades

As BIND patches are issued, or as new features are developed, the IPControl web interface makes upgrading a snap. Simply register your upgrade package downloaded from our support site and upgrade! And there's no requirement that all deployed appliances operate the same BIND or operating system version. This gives you added flexibility to keep external DNS appliances strictly upgraded while running differing versions internally if desired.

IPControl Sapphire DNS appliances support the full BIND DNS feature set. This doesn't mean just a handful of options and resource record types; Sapphire DNS supports them all! And the IPControl web interface simplifies the configuration of these BIND parameters to configure your server, zones, views, and all resource record types, providing the full power of BIND with an easy-to-use web browser interface. IPControl’s intuitive web interface allows you to manage DNS on your terms.

Enhanced Security and Reliability

Each Sapphire DNS appliance is purpose built with a hardened Linux kernel to help secure your network from risk of intrusion. The Sapphire x5 and Sapphire x10 provide local or distributed DNS services on a secure 1U appliance platform. The Sapphire x20’s secure 2U platform offers data center-quality performance, redundancy and management.

For added reliability, all Sapphire appliance models support the IPMI interface, providing a lights-out management interface for remote power control and monitoring of key hardware metrics including voltage, temperature and more.  In addition, all models can be deployed with TwinMirror™ automated failover to ensure business continuity.
