The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, ICANN, will be accepting applications for new generic top level domains (gTLDs), which reside directly beneath the root in the Internet DNS domain tree, in early 2012. As part of this process, IDN submissions will be considered as well for the first time.
